Introducing Creole Connect: A Lifeline for the Haitian Community

The Haitian Community Alliance (HCA) is proud to announce the launch of Creole Connect in collaboration with NDL New Diaspora Live team, a volunteer-driven hotline designed to bridge the language gap for Haitian immigrants and residents in Springfield, Ohio, and beyond. Starting in November, Creole Connect will offer vital translation services and assistance to ensure that community members can access essential resources and support in their Haitian creole.

For many Haitian families, navigating local services like healthcare, transportation, housing, and education can be daunting due to language barriers. Creole Connect was created to offer a solution, providing real-time support in Haitian Creole. Whether it’s helping with documents, connecting to public or private services, or understanding immigration status, this hotline is designed to make services more accessible to the Haitian community.

However, Creole Connect is not just for Haitians—it is available to anyone who needs help communicating with the Haitian community. Public and private organizations, businesses, and individuals who need assistance connecting with Creole speakers can utilize the hotline as a resource. Whether it’s for community outreach, or day-to-day communication, Creole Connect serves as a bridge between English and Haitian Creole speakers, making it easier for both sides to communicate effectively.

The hotline will be staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers from the community, each committed to offering their time and expertise to help others. By calling 937-777-3738, Haitians in need will be able to receive assistance in Haitian Creole, while non-Haitians can also use the service to facilitate communication and foster better understanding.

While Creole Connect is launching to the public in November, HCA wants the community to know that the success of this initiative depends on donations and ongoing support. As a volunteer-based service, every contribution ensures that Creole Connect remains operational and able to meet the growing needs of Springfield’s Haitian population and the wider community.

Those interested in supporting Creole Connect can donate directly through the form below. Donations will help cover operating costs and allow for the continued expansion of services, providing even more help to those in need.

This initiative represents a significant step toward empowering the Haitian community in Springfield, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring that everyone—Haitians and non-Haitians alike—has access to the resources and communication support they need. Creole Connect is more than just a hotline; it’s a lifeline for those seeking support in a language they understand, and a valuable tool for organizations and individuals looking to connect with the Haitian community.
